Candidate for Freshman Class Senator
Christielove K.E. Espinosa Major: Elementary Education Class Standing: Freshman Hobbies/Interest: Hawaii Politics, Homeless Outreach, Fostering Animals, Softball, Cheer leading I believe that making a change in the world starts with ourselves. We must be the change we want to see in the world and from our change we are able to affect our families, our communities, and then our world. I volunteered in a group called "Acteens" delivering groceries to the elderly. New Hope church holds food banks where I have volunteered and distributed food. Currently my family and I help Living The Word Ministries hand out toiletries and food to the homeless. I've gained very good leadership skills from being the captain of high school sports. I also am active in the community with clean ups and working with Rep. Andria Tupola. I'm very active in the Hawaiian Community. If elected into office I plan to organize outreach work with our students to better our college as well as communities. Outreach work includes in changing policies students may have a disagreement with and creating policies to better accommodate student needs. |
Candidate for Freshman Class Senator
Brian A. Watson Major: Political Science Class Standing: Freshman Hobbies and Interests: -reading -keeping up with current events -Netflix binge watching -pondering life's many unanswered questions -learning new languages I, Brian Watson, would be humbly honored to serve the freshman class as Senator. With previous leadership experience in JROTC and the work environment, I believe I have the necessary qualifications to step into my position with confidence and competence. The political atmosphere is a place where one must constantly adapt and think critically to properly handle any situation. Being a military dependent, the vital skill of adaptation developed early in order to ensure my success anywhere. In the ghost town that is leadership, one mustn’t show any preference to a particular person or group. My priorities will reside in the needs of the class, so that we all may benefit. Being class Senator will offer me the opportunity to give back and represent my class so that our needs are met and our experience as students is enhanced as we all strive towards our success. |

I am a former Girl Scout and Venture Crew Scout, so I know the types of skills needed to plan and put on major events. I am a huge people person and love meeting new people. As a Windward Community College graduate, I believe a school isn’t just a place where students go to learn it’s a place where students can socialize, get involved with school organizations and help their community in an effort to achieve the best possible future for themselves and their community. As a future History Teacher in the islands I feel I can represent Humanities students concerns and issues and create a similar atmosphere at West O’ahu. |
Candidate for Public Administration Division Senator
Jesica W. Yee Major: Public Health in Healthcare Administration Class Standing: Freshmen Hobbies: I frequently like to write poems and short stories which I blog about. What I enjoy is participating with non-profit organizations, participating in student organizations as a member or officer position, crafting, traveling, and socializing. Aloha! My goal is to obtain a challenging position as a responsible and dependable team player committed to the success of the organization. My recent past leadership position is with HOSA – Future Health Professionals as the President. During my term we have won countless medals in the State and International Conferences two years in a roll. We also did numerous of community service projects accumulating over 500 hours with non-profit organizations. Some projects me and my team accomplished are hosting workshops with guest speakers from the field to best accommodate students dappling with career paths or coordinate blood back tours for out-of-the-classroom learning. If elected to office, my goal is to establish an environment where individuals do not ponder what they can or can’t do, rather the greatness bestowed in them. I’ve been blessed with opportunity for my experiential growth as a person and want to share that with others. |
Candidate for Business Administration Division Senator
Shad K. Rosario Major: Business Administration concentration in Management Class Standing: Senior Hobbies and Interests: Live a Hawaiian life and get back the land for the people Opportunities…are one of the reasons I am running for the position as business administration senator. I would like to earn the position so I am able to represent the people that had a rough pathway in getting into college and others who are not afraid to speak up. Another reason I would like to earn this opportunity is I am not afraid to fail, I have been knock down countless times, but I am driven by my faith to succeed. Everyone needs to be heard and if we all come together; “stay focus, work hard, try our best, and most importantly never give up, anything is possible.” Finally, I am determined to keep myself actively involved in a positive academic setting and my community. Furthermore, I am the example for my ohana, friends, and community members and through my trial and errors one will be able to understand the difference between right and wrong. |
Candidate for Senate Speaker
Angelo T. McDuffie Major: Business Administration- Accounting Class Standing: Junior Hobbies and Interests: Reading, Blogging, Politics In 2014, I began a journey to become more active. In September 2014, I formed the National Bolshevik Club at UHWO. Ever since, the National Bolshevik Club helped to raise awareness and raise donations for the Ukraine Crisis, promote sustainability, and build stronger ties with the local community. I was also a member of the Eco Club, which taught me about Hawaiian culture and the issues they face in modernity. These experiences helped me to become aware of the concerns in our local community. I am running for senate speaker so I can help promote mindfulness and active involvement within the student body. In addition, I hope to increase recreational activities at UHWO so that students can network and socialize with each other. The students will have the right to delegate on any concerns or policies and I will ensure that their decisions are carried out as they envisioned it. |
