Jennifer Marie Jellow Ismail
Major: Political Science Class standing: Junior Aloha! I moved here from Miami, FL with my husband who is currently serving in the military. Back in High school I was elected as Senior Class President. I loved being a part of the decision making process and creating new ideas, to better student life. My major is Political Science, and I am aiming to attend Law school after I graduate. I work part time, mostly on the weekends, at Macaroni Grill as a server. I enjoy interacting with people and getting to know them. When I am not working or studying I am soaking up the sun; kayaking, swimming or bike riding. I am down to earth and always welcoming. As President, I would have an open door policy and listen to any comments or concerns students may have. Ryan James Sommer
Major: Public Administration/ Justice AdministrationClass Class Standing: Senior Hobbies: Hiking, snorkeling, and motorcycles I served as ASUHWO Junior class Senator in fall of 2012 through spring of 2013. I was elected and served as ASUHWO President in fall of 2013 and served through spring of 2014. I was elected Vice President of ASUHWO in fall of 2014 and served in that capacity until spring of 2015 where I swore in as President. I served on the campus communicatioins committee from fall 2013 until present, where we developed the campus communications plan as well as spoke in front of the WASC review in fall of 2013. I serve on the campus strategic planning committee in summer 2014. Brieana Williams
Major: Public Administration with a concentration in Health Administration Class Standing: Junior Since my college career began I have been a part of the judicial commission in spring 2012, sophomore senator in spring 2014, junior senator in fall 2014 and vice president in spring 2015. I wish to serve as Vice President for one primary reason - to give voice to the students at UHWO. Because college may be an once-in-a-lifetime thing, I would like to ensure that each student-member leaves with a positive experience during his or her year at this beautiful campus and that all students understand that his or her voice is heard. My goal is to ensure students know that ASUHWO is here for you. I will make sure that this organization will represent you and your interest as students to the best of our ability. I promise to carry out my duties and responsibilities as vice president in an ethical and efficient manner. Joyleanne Leialohalani D. Santos
Major: BUSA - Management Class Standing: Junior I have been the Business Administration Senator for two years and currently the ASUHWO Secretary. The sole reason I joined ASUHWO was to involve myself as well as be able to influence the decisions made that would affect Student Life and the School, and be a voice for the students. I want to continue participating in student life. I am qualified because I am attentive to information being shared and type at 87 WPM. Attentiveness and note-taking are important skills for being a Secretary. Another duty is to codify legislation, which I am able to do. I am a note taker for the school where I take notes for those with disabilities. I want to lend my skills to the Senate and to the students so that communication between the two, along with the campus and system, is clear and concise. Communication within the school is important and I want to play a part in that. Shane Nishimure
Major: English Class Standing: Senior My name is Shane Nishimura and I would like to server as your ASUHWO Treasurer to help better our school as a whole. With the many changes coming in the new school year, I believe students should be well equipped with the knowledge of what is happening around them. I aim to increase transparency between ASUHWO, the student, and our faculty as I find it essential for a proactive institution. To do so, communication becomes key. Thank you. George Kalantzis
Major: Political Science Class Standing: Sophomore I have had several experiences working in the political field. Once as a field agent for NRTW, secondly as the Assistant to the Deputy Campaign manager for the Ron Paul 2012 Campaign. There are currently no co-curricular activities I am involved with (hoping to change that). My goals as a UHWO Senator will be to actively promote the wonderful experiences I have already had here! Another one of my goals is to extend the renewable energy programs on campus to propell UHWO into the future of sustainability. All while having fun, making friends, and most importantly learning. Thank you for your consideration! Jacxine Kamanaolanamekealoha Kaulili-Guzon
Major/Academic Study: Business Administration Class Standing: Junior Although this is my first UHWO election, I cannot emphasize the depth of my passion to serve you. While my area of concentration is business and marketing, my overall goal is to empower all who attend UHWO as an advocate for students rights, privacy, integrity, and to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency. My previous and current work history is proof of my capability of staying on task with attention to detail in regards to time sensitivity, confidentiality, and rigorous workload having served two Vice Presidents of Marketing and one CEO. I pride myself on my tenacity to stay abreast in a high-stressed business world. My fellow peers in my current courses experienced my commitment first hand to our learning experience at UHWO by fostering fairness and encouraging positive interaction for group projects and class discussions. Terina Faagau
Major: English Class Standing: Freshman Hobbies/Interests: Dancing, Cheerleading/Stunting, Public Speaking and Debate As a current freshman at UHWO, I realize the importance of school involvement and participation and how student leaders have the potential to greatly impact their peers. In high school, I was the Historian and Representative-at-Large for the Class of 2014 Sophomore board and Junior board respectively. During my senior year, I was the Associated of Students of Kamehameha Schools Director of Internal Affairs. I’ve also held important leadership roles as the captain of our school’s varsity cheerleading and the Historian on Kamehameha’s Speech and Debate Team. If elected as Sophomore Class Senator, I plan on encouraging student involvement in significant issues regarding UHWO and to advocate for the issues brought up by my peers. I also want to make sure that more are aware of their student government so that there is better communication between ASUHWO and the rest of the student body. Isaiah Baclaan
Major: Health Care Administration Class Standing: Junior As the current Social Sciences Senator I have been working on the behalf of the students bringing initiatives such as the texts.com book exchange in order to benefit the students here at UHWO. As a Pueo Leader I emphasize the empowerment of students to take action in their academic careers. Being a college student I know the importance of being involved with other organizations in order to maximize my college experience. I'm running for office so that I can take on more initiatives and help others bridge the gap, and immerse themselves in the happenings of their college. My goals if re-elected as Social Science Senator would be to better connect the students to student government, so that both groups can benefit from the cooperation and grow stronger for the benefit of the school as a whole. |
