Picture
Candidate for Vice President
Name: Jenna Marcos
Class Standing: Senior
Major/Division: Business Administration
Message from Candidate: Aloha. As I currently serve as the Vice President, I realized how much of a positive change I can be for the campus and I would love to continue it further by being elected as Vice President.  Outside of school and work, I love to read, listen to music, and learn different languages. I also love to help out the community in anyway I can. For this term, I would like to focus more on sustainability efforts and provide more resources for out non-traditional/online students. Also, I would like to continue my current initiative of providing financial literacy resources for our students.

Candidate for Secretary
Name: Aleena Mabuti
Class Standing: Junior
Major/Division: Psychology
Message from Candidate: I'm Aleena and I'm a psychology major a UHWO. I want to run for Secretary because I would like to help voice any of their issues as well as work along with the Executive Board and other Senators. Also, I would be continuing my initiative from Spring 2020 if granted admittance into Fall 2020 Senate. My initiative is to bring a more equal amount of in-person classes to UHWO in the Psychology department. I've heard and seen some issues with certain classes only being offered online whereas there are some have the option of both in-person and online. There are other problems following this initiative, and there is still more work that needs to be done. And with the CoVid-19 pandemic, it has somewhat put a hold on some of the work I've started, but not entirely.

Candidate for Senior Class Senator
Name: Cortney Wolensky

Class Standing: Senior
Major/Division: Public Administration - Community Health
Message from Candidate: Hello, my name is Cortney Wolensky. I was born and raised on O'ahu. I've attended classes at two other University of Hawai'i campuses, and West O'ahu is by far the best in my opinion. I transferred to West O'ahu during my senior year and this was the first time that I felt like I wanted to be a part of the university, rather than just attend the classes. UH West O’ahu makes getting a higher education a possibility for many with affordable prices and many options for online classes, all while keeping a feeling of community. While the campus grows, I want UH West O’ahu to still provide the same quality to every student. I would love for every student to feel like they are apart of UH West. There are many events and amenities on campus that are available. However, I think it would be beneficial to make people more aware of all the things we have to improve student life on campus. Also, while the campus is continuously growing, I believe that hearing what students feel they need is important.

Candidate for Sophomore Class Senator
Name:
Cassandra Hardin
Class Standing: Sophomore
Major/Division: Information Security and Assurance

Message from Candidate: Hello. I'm Cassie and I'm returning to run for Sophomore Class Senator. I am originally from the North Shore of Oahu and graduated from Waialua High in 2019. As a member of ASUHWO, I will continue working with students and continue working on my initiative, which is to include more placement tests in the Noeau Center. I also will continue to work with students on a regular basis, both internationally and locally, to make sure that students have a good experience while attending UHWO. I work with local students via ASUHWO and with international students via International Students Club. In my spare time, I don't really bring that much hobbies to the table as I am into anime and KPOP. But I am ok with that because that makes me unique in the end. I would like to thank you for reading this and please consider voting me as your Sophomore Class Senator.

Candidate for Education Division Senator
Name:
Michelle Gabriel
Class Standing: Junior

Major/Division: Elementary Education
Message from Candidate: Hello, my name is Michelle Gabriel and I am running for an education senator position for the ASUHWO Senate. I grew up in Hawaii and graduated from McKinley High School. I was in the band and I played clarinet for 7 years and I played piano for 2 years. I love music and cooking but what I love most is helping people learn about new things. That is the reason why I am studying to become an elementary school teacher and learning new ways so I can help others grow their knowledge of the world. I believe that it is important for clear communication between the school and the students as there is always information that can be shared that can affect everyone at the school. I hope that I can be the voice that represents you in the ASUHWO Senate.

Message from Candidate: My name is Kaylee Torres and I am looking to become a Public Administrator Senator so that I may be able to effectively impact my fellow students by making sure that our curriculum and other concerns are delegated by someone who has the best interest and care for other students in mind. I am born in raised in Hawai’i and during my free time I enjoy playing recreational sports such basketball, swimming, and soccer and am an avid writer and musician. My future academic goals is to complete my Bachelors in Public Administration and will be applying for the UH School of Law so that I can further impact and give back to the community. My goals for office will be to make sure that the Public Administration department is organized and efficient in our use of resources and to help my classmates with any concerns they may have. By working with other office senators and the executive board members I believe that we can have a committee that makes a real difference at UH West O’ahu.
