Overall Senate Efforts:
  • "Tea Time with ASUHWO"
    • Established at the beginning of this school year, this new monthly tabling initiative was continued this semester
    • Provides the opportunity for students to connect with their student representatives to voice concerns, suggestions, & questions over a cup of tea (i.e., "spill the tea" with us!)
  • ​Transition to online services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
    • Online office hours
    • Online general meetings
    • Virtual "Tea Time with ASUHWO"

Senator Reports:

Senior Class Senator Alyssa Neri
  • INITIATIVE: Earth Day 2020
    • Passed a bill for Earth Day funding
    • Encouraged virtual Earth Day attendance 
  • OTHER:
    • Engaged in graduation discussion to promote a postponed graduation ceremony 

Junior Class Senator Caton Liang
  • INITIATIVE: Supporting Student Mental Health at UHWO
    • Worked with UHWO Psychologist Dr. Taketa to discussed how to better support UHWO student mental health
    • Authored & introduced Senate Resolution 20-03: In Support of Student Mental Health and Campus Counseling Services
  • OTHER:
    • Authored & introduced Senate Resolution 20-01: Urging UHWO Faculty and Instructors to Temporarily Modify Course Requirements in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic 

Sophomore Class Senator Brient Hutchinson
  • INITIATIVE: Adding Black/African American History Course to Curriculum 
    • To fully be capable of kick starting and operating my initiative for adding a Black/African American course into UHWO, I joined up and was sworn in during early March of this year and Spring 2020.
    • Communicated with one of the History department heads at UHWO Dr. Kealani Cook, to add a Black/African American course into UHWO and began the groundwork on his part. Also curtorsy to ASUHWO President Sydney and Student Life Director Rouel Velasco. 
    • Created initiative, and created resolution in favor for ASUHWO to aiding the making of a Black/African American course.
    • Drafted 3 student feedback surveys to have supporting data and reinforcing in the addition of Black/African American courses into UHWO by student interest. Moreover to enhance both campus diversity and expansion with a new course that may possibly create a new degree program or set of courses in it's respected field. 
    • Attained support from ASUHWO, students and faculty staff, and in the process by the Fall of Spring 2021, a Black/African American course can be ready. 

Freshman Class Senator Cassandra Hardin
  • INITIATIVE: No'eau Center Testing For ENG Classes
    • Added a new virtual No'eau Center through Zoom
    • No placement test required for 100T, only for 100.
    • Added new remote testing through ProctorU 
    • Suspended in person testing for Spring 2020 due to COVID-19
    • Addressed on IGTV through @noeaucenter

Business Administration Senator Jenna Marcos
  • INITIATIVE: Financial Literacy
    • ​Creating a workshop with Katie Landgraf (Postponed until Fall 2020)
    • Creating a budget sheet

Social Sciences Senator Aleena Mabuti
  • INITIATIVE: Increasing Number of In-Person Psychology/Social Science Classes 
    • Met with Kealohi Perry to learn more of how this would be possible
    • Prepared questions for division chair 
    • Researched information regarding UHWO distance learning
Caucus Ambassador Reports:

Ramon Araujo, Jr.
  • INITIATIVES: 
    • UH Student Relief Fund
      • Authored UHSC Resolution 02-20
      • Helped influence current Student Aid Fund
    • Testimony Writing Workshop
      • Worked with ASUH to help plan workshop
      • Tracked bills of importance to UHWO
  • OTHER:
    • Authored UHSC Resolution 03.20 in support of US Census
    • Lobbied State Legislature on behalf of UHSC
    • In communications with all other UH campuses to deal with system level changes]
